Track by Track

SYNTHETIC FREEDOM
A subtle as a master barber's artistry, one can notice the shuffling influences of minimal techno styles in this track. Kicks and snares as clean as a spring lake slap against rolling, rocky bass topped with a generous portion of filtered saw waves. Low beats and less intense rhythms tie in the break here… Panoramic effects grab your cerebral attention as sultry loops and evolving progression enable the rest of your body to do what it does best.

FAREWELL
This intro of ethereal upper end sweeps, synthesized cirrus clouds and kinetic glitchy mids paints a vivid tapestry of sound. Organic drum work foretells the coming of demanding basslines in the next few minutes. Ostentatious moods inspired by Bossa Nova lineages amongst contrasting space orchestra strings and pads. Farewell is a homage to Dimitris closest musical mentors Serge Souque and Dado. This whole track seems more a wordless narration than music normally seems to be, with everything coming together smoothly in this surefire foot thumper.

I WANT YOU
At once your head is bobbing, and you can hear the tension building. Dimitri’s talent and experience shows itself here; the clever bass and usage of evolving repetition do well to keep the energy flow increasing. Just the right amount of melody with masterful use of applied filtration and effects keep the sounds uplifting, yet with a tinge of pining :: proof that out-board synths have more power than a plug in! Tones and scales used in just the right way indicate hints of emotion and tension. ‘I Want You’ also perked the ears of his long time friend Sasha and he asked him to remix 2 of his tunes... Pushing him into the house/techno scene more. The story of this track is as uncertain as the path of any relationship, stopping and starting but continuous all the same.

MOTEL LOVER
This up-tempo arrangement breeds full-on excitement between its waves of filtered synth rhythm pads and evolving, tension-wringing leads. "Lover" contains sequences, sounds and elements not generally found in trance, but will still turn a dance floor into a cauldron of bubbling activity with an intensity that will make you sweat. A quasi-retro bassline recalls hedonistic Blighty parties where so many electronic greats got their start. This piece is perfect for the peak hour, built to carry and amplify high-wattage trance energy.

X-DREAM : COMING SOON (Dimitri DKN Rmx)
Dimitri takes on a slightly more ominous musical direction in this remix of an X-Dream classic, with clever usage of tone and scale to create moods of menacing proportions. Not a smidgen of flavor and groove is lost in the process, however. Dimitri updates this tune and offers his take on the "umpa-umpa" bass Jan and Markus fathered…which influenced a generation of Israeli styles. Dynamic contrast and recurrence of thematic sound define this stellar rework.

ASTRIX & DIMITRI : EVOC (Dimitri DKN Rmx)
Driving bass thumps forward with locomotive force, towing a delightfully bizarre array of building sound layers in its wake. Grumbling lead stabs push out pressure like a bellows before scintillating arrays of soothing melody rain down from above. Concise, quiet breakdowns set the tone for subsequently intense sonic melodic buildups to contrast powerfully against.

GBU : INTERRUPTED
A bassline warmer than a Swedish sauna hits your body with full force and gets you moving from head to foot. Resonant static sweeps and lushly filtered strings collide with delayed leads which bounce from side to side. Layers ranging from the soft to the edgy fill out the mid ranges. The energy carries you throughout the peaks and breaks of the second half. Unexpected twists and turns as well as bass beat alternations speak of Brazilian trance influences, with an appropriately fitting name.

LFO
Locomotive-style bass gets down and dirty at the outset, with heavily saturated percussion mixing in a serious groove. Pulsing techno club-style synth hits and mid-range sweeps build up into explosions of foreground digitalism. Excellent dynamic contrast exists here, as ‘LFO’ was constructed around the experiences had in trances festivals and how the music hits the the outdoors . Thick, meaty rhythms and melodies surf filtration cutoff frequencies which serve well to keep your body moving tirelessly to this well-orchestrated beat.

BIORHYTHMS
Pumping percussion and in-your-face bass are the names of this track's game. Clean, forceful percussion puts you straight into the groove as the upper sound layers begin to do the twisting from there. Waves of progression rise and dip throughout the first half with impressively mood-altering sound rearrangements which color the second a distinctly different shade. This inside-out wonder seems to start where it should start and vice versa, making a unique metaphor of life's own cycles. Proof that we don't control our Biorhythms, they control us.
